A Mouthful of Nothing

A tryst with my reflection
reflected quite a lot.
A burning desire, an ire, a fire;
Yet, a battle hardly fought.

Arms outstretched, an embrace it seemed.
She smirked, she laughed, and then she beamed.
With mist around, no light, no sound;
solitude made its presence felt.

Eyes wide shut, a shiver set in.
A gleam of hope and yet so thin.
I swam so hard, so hard to drown;
to sell my soul in an abandoned town.

My raft shall sail, my sweat shall row.
May poison be my placebo.
In a trance of pain my heart shall sing
to celebrate a mouthful of nothing.
